While hiking near Stateline in Tahoe i cam e across this grassy field. the grass in this one area had been wind swept in such a way that it reminded me of a braided horses mane. It was cold. The ponds were frozen yet there was no snow on the ground. That is one of my favorite times to be in Tahoe.
